Mr. Komikero

Personally speaking, we didn't have that much interaction with Sir Gerry in our formative years.
We even intentionally avoided interactions with him due to his "at the time" views about anime-manga artists.
Which in hindsight was both a challenge and sort of beneficial to our growth as an artist.
We eventually outgrew our manga influences and eventually developed and honed our own art style and storytelling.

We weren't lucky enough to read his magnum opus: Wasted.
But was fortunate enough to catch his later works like Johnny Balbona in Mwahaha (Mango Comics),
Lastikman (which
was an epic Alanguilan-Arre-Tadeo collab),
Crest Hutt Butt Shop
and the Eisner nominee, Elmer.

We became fans then eventually friends around Komikon 2007 (Our very first Komikon).
Where we had a few discussions about Carlo J. Caparas' Komiks.
He'd buy our books and in return, we'd feature him in our strips, articles, segments.
We'd meet him more often from 2011 onwards as we'd travel to more and more provincial conventions at the time. He'd share his dream to archive all of the Komik groups and Komik titles in the country. A rather daunting task but a task he was able to complete.
Hence, our sorry asses were eventually featured in Komikero Dot Com. We felt mighty proud of that, actually.

We were also fortunate enough to have a very short conversation with him back when we've decided to Redesign Elmer.

Komiket 2015 would be the last time we'd see each other.
This would also be the time that I'd release even fewer books and appear even less at conventions.
We've noticed that he had gotten a lot thinner. Not knowing the information
I know now (courtesy of Crest Hutt Butt Shop Volume 4).
I was under the impression that he was simply on a diet or living a more healthy lifestyle.

He left us at age 51. Leaving behind a legacy on an art medium he loved so dearly.
The rest of the world might know him as Mr. Hey Baby.

But for everyone else that really knew him, he will always be Manong and Sir Gerry
Thank you and rest easy.
Until we meet again.

Silent Sanctum Manga Family Values

The Holy Quartet!

The heart and soul of SILENT SANCTUM MANGA are the 4 core founding members of the team.
Namely:
DARK CHAPEL
WACKY RODENT
BEACH HEAD
YUI OOKAMI
And although YUI OOKAMI had left the team some long long years ago, the team still
honors her existance as a valuable and integral part of the group.
And even in her absences,no SILENT SANCTUM MANGA FAMILY ART is complete without her
avatar adorning the piece.
With that being said it had roughly been a year since the last SSM! Family art.
The very last piece was dated
FEBRUARY 23,2010.
SSM! Assemble!!!!

&
FEBRUARY 26,2010.
The VERY rare occassion that DARK CHAPEL actually signs his works!

Time to step up and create some magical kodak moments that only the SSM! Family
can deliver!
So here goes
JAN.25,2011's SSM! Family Art,
ENJOY!!!

Generic Intro Thing

Silent Sanctum Manga or SSM!is a bimonthly MANGA/KOMIKS Anthology, printed and distributed here in the PHILIPPINES.
Currently on it's 6.5th issue.

With BACK ISSUES available @ both
SPUTNIK KOMIKS (Cubao)
&
COMIC ODYSSEY (Ortigas)

WHO IS/ARE SILENT SANCTUM MANGA?

Silent Sanctum Manga originally were DARK CHAPEL, WACKY RODENT, BEACH HEAD and YUI OOKAMI.
The group was founded by both DARK CHAPEL & WACKY RODENT.
Additional rosters came in after the "INVASION ARC" that took place in SSM! ISSUE #4.
Newly acquired talents would include FRINKSTER, "the king", SAP GREEN, HACHI and regulars
like TRITANOCH and the very famous MICHAEL "KANAL" DAVID.

The roster is not limited by the 8 members alone for every issue would feature
a host of guest artistses and even a few artistses from abroad.

WHEN & WHERE DID SILENT SANCTUM MANGA became SILENT SANCTUM MANGA? (redundancy kills!)

DARK CHAPEL and WACKY RODENT knew each other after a small conversation that was made about a hit 90's NICKELODEON classic,ROCKO'S MODERN LIFE and after conversing(in full details)
about the ever notorious episode entitled "WACKY DELLY",the group was formed just like that.
With two members and back then without a name. The group looked more like a club than a
mob. They would soon enough find two more artist of the same interest,BEACH HEAD and YUI OOKAMI
were later on added to the group and which was still called ARCANE SANCTUM.

Silent Sanctum Manga became SILENT SANCTUM MANGA in the confines of the newly built BEATO ANGELICO
BUILDING
in UST (University Of Santo Tomas) RM 801,on an afternoon class (COMPO 2by SIR BONG C. DUCAT).The group was strongly motivated by the "GET PUBLISHED AD"
that was running back then on the comic book,CULTURE CRASH! More than the exposure, the
group was also enticed by the fact that getting published would also mean that they were
gonna get paid in cold hard cash.Something they cherished dearly since ART SCHOOL won't pay
themselves and canvases were eating huge chunks of their own allowance money.

The project was discontinued due to the fact that the people involved back then were
still too busy with school load and the early absence of YUI OOKAMI had left the group
pursuing other things. The manga was put on hold up untill everyone has graduated.
Fast forwarding to 2006.After joining an event entitled KOMIKON 2006.

The group got motivated and tried their darnest to draw, create, etc. a book good enough to
join KOMIKON 2007.
Thus SSM! ISSUE 1 was born.

WHY SILENT SANCTUM MANGA?
Because, quite frankly....WHY THE HELL NOT?From BLACK ARCANE to ARCANE SANCTUM.The group was immediately drawn to the word
SANCTUM and basically brainstormed a bunch of names up untill the name SILENT came abound
and what happened was pure MAGIC!

WHAT IS THAT THING YOU CALL A MASCOT OF A LOGO?THE ONE THAT LOOKS LIKE A BAG OF BONES?

Well quite frankly you have no idea how right you are on describing him as a bag of bones.
MALNOURISHED bag of bones would've been more acceptable, but your close enough.
Coz that mascot of a logo is called LOLO DEADHEAD(GRANDFATHER DEADHEAD)

And we usually show him in two ways.
THE DEAD

& THE ALIVE
(which we have a lot more pictures of apparently)

Both ways similarly  good,it's just a matter of taste and opinion.
Lolo Deadhead symbolizes the company and artistses being BEYOND HUMAN.A state where
you are all about the art. This is where you leave your reality shoes and try to step in
to the cumphy slippers of SILENT SANCTUM MANGA.Leaving all your wordly and man made constraints
and stepping on to a world, our world to be exact.THE HOLY OF THE HOLIES so to speak.

HOW CAN I PURCHASE A COPY OF THIS INFERNAL BOOK?

That's easy!First and foremost you could try the two shops that were mentioned above.
SPUTNIK COMICS and COMIC ODYSSEY.But if you would trully wish to know the people behind
the avatars you would just had to join them in various comic book and book related
conventions that are happening all year long around the metro.
Or you could contact them and purchase a copy directly from them.(Metro Manila,Philippine area only)

Cellphone : 09196050009
E-mail : silent_sanctum@yahoo.com

They'd be more than happy to be of service to you.

HOW MUCH DOES A SILENT SANCTUM MANGA COST?

Currently it is priced @ PHP55.00.
Prices might only vary depending on the economic status of the country.
HOW MUCH OF THIS INFORMATION IS REAL?
EVERYTHING is true down to the last punctuation marks. The members of SILENT SANCTUM MANGA
would strictly tell you the TRUTH and NOTHING but the TRUTH.'Coz lying would make JESUS
CHRIST cry...and a crying god is the last thing SILENT SANCTUM MANGA would want on their
resume.

and now we're done introducing ourselves.
Y'all could just....
