Kraving Komiks
Just when normal reading is not enough, you have to go forth and CRAVE for it!
Which what had just happened last July 24,2019 (wow, super updated!) at the De La Salle-College Of Saint Benilde.
Or CSB, for all you hip cats out there.
The same building that showcases the gigantic Archie Oclos' Bakwit mural.
So you know it's good!
And it's about to get even better because we were fortunate enough to have been part of their MMA week.
No, not THAT type of MMA.
But even better, it's the MULTIMEDIA ART kind.
MMA 20/20, is a week-long celebration of the 20th year of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde’s Multimedia Arts Program.
Sounds important, because IT IS!
I wish I could have snapped more photos but we were running late.
But the place was amazing, trust us!
We were scheduled for a Komiks Reading at RM. 1015.
But first, a little history lesson, of course!
Reading Comics or Reading Komiks is, of course, a proud creation born from the minds of Chamtamaria.
It used to be a monthly/quarterly gathering of komikeros, writers and similarly creative people held
at the then bar of choice of the masses, Uno Morato.
Previous readings for your research and referential purposes:

We were part of several komik readings before which is why we were thrilled to have been part of this very recent incarnation as well.
Oh, shit!
And now, back to reality!
And yes, surprise of all surprises. We were late...yet again....for the 9000th time, I guess?
We were able to catch a decent amount of Josel's reading.
Caught up with our good friends Noel and Aaron.
And met new komikeros like Betina, Anelle and Sandra.
Two of which were CSB alumnae, so yay school spirit!
The next reader would be none other than Betina:
with her story entitled:
This was definitely a crowd favorite.
And their reactions to the story was nothing short as it was genuine.
Most komiks reader came in prepared with a short introduction about themselves.
Quite like our boi Mr. Aaron over here:
He was able to share about his day job at Balangay Entertainment then read about his on-going komiks series, Nabubulok.
He was also able to share about his on-going webseries, AWAN.
Best/most shared strip (according to Aaron himself):
Next up is our pal, Noel.
With his very animated reading of CFCCA# 2.
Complete with voice acting and insightful trivias about gently kicking someone's nuts.
This truly is indie komiks at its finest!
Coming right up is the pastry chef/freelance artist, Anelle.
An artist with a penchant for puns.
And at this day and age of jokes and memes, everyone's definitely a fan of her work.
Not pictured here that we slightly regret about, the GAR-LICK one.
It caught everyone by surprise and it's a gif image of two pieces of garlics simulating anal foreplay.
It was pretty amazing!
Oh, you have to see it to believe it!
Second to the last reader was Chesca.
Whom shared her thesis experience and an actual physical copy of their hardwork.
And again, we were unable to obtain a copy of their book since only 3 books were being given away.
Looking back at it now, we only have ourselves to blame,I guess?
And last but not the least was yours truly.
(As always, no picture available)
We selfishly read two stories, Mona : Queen Of The Babes
and Enjuriki
respectively.
With Mona being the crowd favorite between the two.
Speaking of crowds, o what a crowd indeed!
The event should have ended with a Q&A panel but seeing how almost everyone had already left the room. The idea was scrapped.
We were also fortunate enough to caught the last parts of Apol's zine making class.
We had our late luch and
Hence, thank you Mam Melay and thank you CSB-MMA Dept.
Stay awesome, you guize!
