Corner Tactics

May gustong humamon sa ating current champion na si Japan's Best.
At yan ay ang walang iba kung di si Japan's Corner.
Kakasa ba sila sa hamon?
Ah basta, magkita na lang tayo sa manggahan!
Located near Gil Puyat station.
Right next to a Sogo Hotel (we shit you not!)
lies a mall with no name.

We've always wanted to use that joke.
Well, there it is!
Ok, boomer!

How the mall looked like from afar.
How it looked like from the security guard's POV.
How it looked like from the inside.
How it looked like on the OTHER floors.

The 2nd floor is where you should be at.
Because right around the corner is well, Japan's Corner.
Surprisingly enough, the tankobons in this store are very neatly arranged.
Not a single one of them scattered elsewhere.

Titles within their collection (and the ones we are somewhat familiar with):
Gokusen
Gintama
Eyeshield 21

And surprisingly enough, mainstream titles are even rarer on this said store.
We were only able to find 2 or 3 of them within their shelves.
And that's a good thing because you wouldn't want to overstock on titles that people
probably already own.

But instead, Japan's Corner carries older and classic titles such as:
Message To Adolf or Adolf by Osamu Tezuka.
and
Eatman by Akihito Yoshitomi.
Both titles are hard to find and are most definitely not easily available elsewhere.

Speaking of older titles, they do carry
City Hunter.
Cat's Eye.
Lupin The Third.
Tokyo Babylon
And this neatly wrapped *and what we could only assume as* brand new Yaiba #1.

The store also prides itself with having more contemporary titles such as:
Tiger & Bunny
and One Punch Man.
This marks as the second time we've seen a One Punch manga on a surplus store.
And that back cover gimmick is just clever as it is amazing.

And speaking of things you don't see very often, how about this Gurren Lagann manga.
I didn't even know that the title had a manga version outside of its anime counterpart.
Goes to show how little we know about the said title.

The store also sells a few PS2PSP, and Wii games.
Sadly, we don't own any of the next-gen consoles but here's one game we definitely recognize.
And also, HENTAI LASER DISCS....
let that sink in for a while.

Cool finds from the said store:
Surprisingly or not so surprisingly enough not Addams Family related.
Not a manga about Guy Fieri.
Not Beatles related.
And last but not the least,
not Mel Gibson/Danny Glover related.
We all are, aren't we?

Kidding aside, here were a few tankobons with nice covers.

What the hell is a Vibrato?
Wait, I even don't want to know.

Carlorozy Manga (not it's official name but C'MON!.

Can you believe that this is a boxing title?
You probably can't because you were way too focused on her tits!

And last but not least, Karate Tang-Ama!

Japan's Corner does offer a whole lot of titles outside of what a conventional surplus store had to offer
And their neatly organized shelves are definitely a plus.
But they're definitely NOT dethroning Japan's Best anytime soon but it is still most certainly worth your time, money and visit.
So check them out, kiddos!
