If you weren't THERE,then your SQUARE!
!!!TOTALLY!!!
For this is "THE" event to be for both established and up and coming artists.
Held this year at a totally different venue.Aptly named: "THE BAYANIHAN CENTER"
It is like the house of mirrors in TH1RT3EN GHOSTS
sans the ghosts and the actor who played
SHAGGY.
Kidding aside it was a pretty awesome event held yesterday APRIL 16,2011.10AM-7PM
We had to point that one out since our good buddy STONG"QUIPINO"FRANCO
doubts that we ever update our entries on this blogspot so STONG my man, this entry's for YOU and YOUR COOL PINSANS!
And thanks for liking our MASAMANG DAMO youtube videos(which we found out we're the only ones uploading these kinds of clips),
yeah,that was a pretty awesome
movie. The very first and the only movie JESSA ZARAGOZA was....uhmm!We'll just let the pictures do the talking
Yeah,back to the event.
SAY WHUT?
You don't know how to get there?
Well here's how,
lucky for you we're MASTERS OF COPY-PASTING!
Take it away MAP!(gawd that made us sound like DORA!)
And a word of advice if you'd be going to the venue on your first try.It would
be strongly advisable for you to take the BONI MRT ROUTE.For the convinience of riding a
tricycle beats the holy hell out of walking the distance.P20 if your really in a hurry,
and P7 if you wait for like 6 more people to ride with you.NO FATTIES coz goodluck on the uphill
part of the road.Don't get EL CHEAPO with me here
and try walking....you'd either fry in the sun or be really really FUNKY when you arrive.
And NO,we're not talking about JAMES-BROWN-FUNKY...
we're talking about P.U.-FUNKY!
We arrived around 11:30 which is relatively early in DARK CHAPEL STANDARDS(1-2PM onwards)
And due to the fact that we have purchased our tickets in advance we we're given
a no hassle pass in to the said event.SEE KIDS,Following the rules is cool!
And oh yeah, this is the hall where the debauchery took place.
I forgot the name but it was supposedly named after the UNILAB PRESIDENT and a bunch
of sponsors with silly names like POLLY MATIC and REY LAMPA.Kuya JON ZAMAR knows what
we're talking about...
We set up like so...
Actually we didn't have a picture of the booth BEFORE the selling part so this is pretty much an AFTER shot of the booth. But the
"NINTENDO WII" and "NINTENDO DS"
pretty much did the trick for us and SOMEONE actually posed with the WII and the DS.
Here's who!
And we pretty much sold out everything around 2:30-3-ish this was due to the fact we
only brought like 5 copies. These were the ones left from the *KOMIKSTRIP batch
*Please refer to SECTIONALLY REGIONALS entry for reference*
And even if we would love to bring more than just five copies, chances are we can't due to
the fact that we no longer have any reprints ourselves.Back issues are only available
@ both
SPUTNIK COMICS (CUBAO)
&
COMIC ODYSSEY (ORTIGAS)
HUB PACHECO was elated to find out that I( Chapel ) wore the infamous FUDGE shirt as well.
Which I wore with pride and pretty much due to the fact that I know we're gonna meet each other
that day.He pretty much snapped away even when I had just arrived and still in my
"KALAT" state.JOSEL NICOLAS also greeted me and MACOY never fails to do so as well.
GOOD FRIENDS LIKE THEM ARE TRULY HARD TO FIND!
Well we met this guy,who doesn't want to be photographed with our KOMIKS.=(
Well good for him!
And atleast he bought back issues from us.=)
And we also met an old D.A. friend which whom we had lost contact with.
POM-BADGUY & his lovely girlfriend FEYD(no picture available due to malfunctioning camera =D)
And we were also asked to draw on a sketchcard via PAULO of ALITAPTAP COMICS.
It was a lotta fun!
This was the last komiks we sold that day(No picture available, atleast not right now!)
And it was sold to HEYA and company (spelling could be wrong)
And since we finished around the above mentioned time.We tallyed our sheets in advance
and we were left to ogle around the whole afternoon. And yeah we also lent our spot
to TRITANOCH'S group SOUL SYNTH due to the fact that we have nadda thing to sell anymore.
And I was able to sell one issue of the said KOMIKS ANTHOLOGY due to the fact that
I don't know how to market the product other than,"BILI KAYO,MAGANDA YAN!"
And surely enough we have but ONE BUYER.Which was ATE JOANNAH.
Huy je,magpasalamat kayo hehehe...
We were walking...walking... then STOP!
lookie here an exhibition of FILIPINA TALENT!
Most of them we know personally and quite frankly they deserved it.
And we also believe that these sort of things was a bit long overdued since championing
women's right shoudn't just be a per MONTH THING or a TREND.It should've been
done more regularlly for without the WOMEN IN THE FIELD OF ART,
all we could ever have are the DARK,SADISTIC,VAGUED STORYLINED,and most of the time
SEXIST stories guys do.It's good to count on someone to balance all that negative vibe we
churn out on a regular basis.
We also met SUPER MEGA IDOL NG BAYAN :
MANIX ABRERA.
ULTRA ELECTRO MAGNETIC CHARMING STORE MANAGER :
CHEZ(that's pronounced as "SHAAY" ,you numbnuts!)
To whom I swore my life and soul, to finally purchase this bitch'n GALACTUS action figure this coming MCC!
And here's BUDJETTE trying to explain to a parent the benefits of KOMIK READING
(just kidding!)
And here are the guys from ELECTROMAGNETIC TENTACLE
whom suprisingly enough doesn't have a MIKO MIDO shirt in their product line.
miko mido...sad! |
See THIS is what we expected when we hear the word "TENTACLES"
Later down the same path we also met our good friends MEL,
OMENG
and NORBSKY!
While just adjacent to them is the POINT ZERO/CULTURE CRASH CORNER.Where they are selling this book right here....
for only P150.
Which we immediately purchased. For as far as we can remember this
compilation used to sell for like P300 or P500.It was pretty much a good deal and we even
have our heroes autograph it for us.
We also received this spellbinding sketchcards from SIR KANAL.
Cards that would normally sell around P20.00(convention price) or a whole lot more on ebay
if your a shrewed entrepeneur!A big shout out to sir kanal for whom who never fails to congratulate
any scheme/gimmick(big or small) we try to pull off.
On the far aisle, we also saw our good friend FREELY
and discussed plans on the long overdued collaborations.
We also met a couple of our friends from SALIMPUSA PRODUCTIONS.
And a surprise visit from MACOY's wife: CHERRY.
(whom wouldn't stop giggling hence as a result this great photo was born)
Our sketch looks pretty similar to the one sir kanal did.Only with SSM! Characters!
Later on that evening in line with our "SKETCH WHATEVER THE HELL YOU WANT"theme
we came across COMMISSIONER ADDY'S REQUEST for a TIKBALANG.
This is what the reference was suppose to look like:
And yet this was the one I came up with.
My version clearly is suffering from some acute-plump-muscle-unproportional-perspective disorder XD
We also met DA BHOSS,JESCIE JAMES PALABAY (no photo right now but here's an old one and the
quality is crap so please don't hate us!)
And on the SIKAT SIGHTINGS!
We met GAB of PAROKYA NI EDGAR
*not actual photo,malamang!*
(no photo available as of the moment, maybe later!)
and we're lucky enough to meet his excellency...no not NOYNOY.
*DIREK QUARK HENARES*
(no photo available right now...maybe some other time, but within this LIFETIME that's for sure!)
who is the famed cosmetic surgeon VICKI BELO'S SON!
And the director of such movies (that we really really REHEALLLY LIKE)
such as:
GAMITAN
SEX DRIVE
RAKISTA(TV SHOW)
and our all time favorite of all the timesssss new romansss
KEKA
He also told us about a brand new movie his work'n on called RAKENROL
WHICH LOOKS PRETTY WICKED!!!
AND...
We were proud to have told him that KEKA was pretty much the original
KILL BILL.And QUENTIN probably saw it before he made his movie with UMA.He might not admit it
but the similarities are UNCANNY...x-men...nyok!
We were also good enough(di rin!) to pay our share of gas fare for the KOMIKSTRIP UPLB
trip.We paid in thousands but macoy only took twos...such generous guy.
We went home with a clean conscience and in which faith in humanity was restored.
pinaka-interesting na Post-Komikon report na nabasa ko. ♥!
