Git Your FREEK ON!

This right here is a post FCBD event report.
You can read the GP (General Patronage) version right here:

Now, it's time for the SPG version,

better call your CARMINA VILLAROEL,cuz
it's about the get down and dirty.

May 5,2012 was when we celebrated F.C.B.D. or what geeks and nerds alike would like to call
FREE COMIC BOOK DAY.Held at the basement of ROBINSON'S ORTIGAS is the newly
relocated COMIC ODYSSEY.Same store, new location but still kick'n ass.

We arrived an hour late(which comes as no surprise to many)
And our voice sound like shit from a weeks worth of
coughing

and wheezing.

So there we were...unable to find CO.
But just like what any manly man would do....WE DIDN'T ASK FOR DIRECTIONS.

Luckily enough we were able to find it(on our own) and boy was the line long.
You can't miss it because it's the only store with a long queue of people extending
to the neighboring stores.I bet the gun guys must've been pissed as hell.
Ah well, it's not like they're giving away FREE GUNS or anything so business is as usual
(and by usual we mean business is doing poorly).

So there, we arrived late, our voices sounds terrible and guess what..we no longer have seats.
Nobody's sharing their table so the next logical thing to do is to CREATE YOUR OWN.
And create our own we did...

And to prove as to how FAMILY-FRIENDLY SSM! jokes are. We subject ourselves to an informal/
impromptu testing.A father-daughter tandem chanced upon our booth and had the time of their lives
being addressed to as " CHEAP BASTARDS". So there you have it folks, SSM! as CLASSY
and REFINED as a bottle of red wine.

Amidst all our antics and shenanigans, top priority on our minds was of course...to able to contribute a lil'
sumthin-sumthin for Sir Tony DeZuniga. This is a celebration/ benefit event for crying out loud...so yeah.
Here are some of the works we brought for the SILENT auction.

This was our very first auction (of any kind) so the experience was pretty exhilarating.
And guess what, somebody actually bided...
WHO, you might ask?
them...
PUNKY

&
MR. BARTOLOME.
(no picture of Mr. Bartolome available, sorry we suck ass)

The other two pieces were excluded from the auction on the grounds that their dimensions
were too small and Sir Sandy (Sandman) suggested that they be sold on our own booth instead.
And guess what(WHAT?)
Someone actually bought those as well...
WHO?

That's who!
Thank you MR. TAM.
He also purchased the one and the only, DR. HOOK sketchcard

and a SSM! JET.

He's such a cool guy
what the world needs now are more MR. TAMS.
and a lot less of HIM...

The MONA sketchcard was awarded to BENJ(for being such a cool friend)

whom in return gave me this wonderfully crafted (and the first of it's kind) MONA
"fanart". Take a gander,friend-os!

Anyways, the afternoons were spent chatting and lollygagging with BENJ, JOSEL and JULIUS.

It was a fun day despite us sounding like INDAY GARUTAY in her prime.

We have to thank the following people that we must have missed out on the GP version
of the review.

We would like to thank MR. PAULO for the lunch pizza. It's been quite a while since
we last saw you, man.
ANDREW V., for the free swag.

who's your daddy?

A mother and daughter tandem that bought a SSM! UNLIMITED.Oh yes, we didn't frick'n
stutter...someone bought this book right here...

the really EXPENSIVE one.
Yes,bought it...paid for it in cash!
No picture of the said sale available(anywhere) and we still hate ourselves for letting the said
moment slipped away...
We still get goosebumps whenever we remembered it. Not that it's a bad book but
it's a little pricey and that alone makes it a lil' difficult to sell. But the production
cost for it ain't no joke either so it really is a struggle to do the same effort
twice.Ok, enough about my EIC related heartaches back to the heart-felt salutations.

We would also like to thank Mr. Mikey, the other half of the HAPPY LOCKJAW family.

for hanging out with us.

Kit Perez of GTMACC. Thanks for the awesome tags.

Olracs for THIS awesome free komiks.

Hub Pacheco, the other half of WIP Comics fame gave us a taste of the danish
cookie they would like to call, DETECTIVE HELMUTT.

Warning:may cause severe addiction for it is too cool to be a free book.
But it is free nonetheless
and if you weren't able to get one then you're a total square,man...

Norby's posters are the shiznits. And just like the guy, they're huge!

And quite affordable actually.

Hazel Manzano's daughter, thanks for smiling at us.

RH for petting our RAM MAN.(tiga san ka?)

Tepai....actually she was the star of the entire event.

she had the most request and got to draw on a MAGIC THE GATHERING card.
That is sooo frack'n awesome.

Mr.Joe Patricio, it was a pleasure to meet you.

he is a strong reminder of where we wanted to be when we grow older.
But it is rather sad that his talent are left unappreciated and taken for granted
in a country where singing and dancing rules the nation. We feel for you but the fight
does not end there...we strongly believe (and recommend) that if there is a chance for him
to go digital, he should embrace it.For that is where the oppurtunity is.
It's no walk in the park but these are baby steps for us to take to eventually arrive at our much deserved recognition
We are in an industry where everyone has the gift but only a few actually GETS there.

Met JEFF (again, see we met @ BEEF)and KANG (TMNT RULEZ!)

We would also like to thank a couple of pretty faces like MARS(whom we jokingly said
would like to see her URANUS)We kid of course.
And that other gal...whom we forgot her name...well she's really pretty and stuff...
AWW SHIT...should've just gotten a picture rather than trying to describe her and
what not...CRAP,CRAP CRAP.

We didn't do a single commission or whatever you would like to call it.
But we did sketches...

And we were pretty staunch about drawing only our very OWN SSM! CHARACTERS at these kinds of events.
The same couldn't be said about our seatmate who just did nothing but AVENGERS after AVENGERS requests.
He did it as if the avengers was his...ugh!
But what can you do when that's the only thing people can expect from ya?
Oh well, enemies, baby!

The thing is, there were a lot more people asking for our signature/autograph rather than actually
buying stuffs. Not that we're complaining but atleast they knew on which page our
work is located and it makes the experience rather fulfilling than annoying.
It makes you feel appreciated and we do like the feeling.

Now that we have given much thought about it. We really do regret missing out on
last year's FCBD. We should've just avoided THIS event

and went there instead.
GOD,

that was pretty dumb of us....
The night ended with a PIZZA PARTY (epic!!!!)

Thank you Sir Sandy!
Thank you Papa John...whoever the fuck you are.Thank you for inventing awesome
pizzas.

The night ended with a KINA ROGERS evening dinner.
With our meal being constantly recalled for whatever reasons....
It was a lot of fun and the next day is a sunday so thus
the reading marathon commences.

May 5, would also be the day that we said goodbye to our homey MCA of the BEASTIE BOYS.

The highest of highs are not equal to the lowest of lows.

MCA, where have you been?

and wherever you may be...you're still issuing LICENSE TO ILLs,

and FIGHTING FOR YOUR RIGHT TO PARTY!

R.I.P MCA
