year other than to watch a rat related movie.
Ladies and germs, we give you:
We could've simply reviewed Ratatouille or even Willard.
But that's not subtle enough because those films actually DO have
rats in them. As opposed to a film called Rat Race featuring
zero rats but rather a mere metaphor for people acting like rats
in a desperate attempt to find and possibly own for themselves John Cleese (of Monty Python fame)'s
2 Million Dollars.
This movie was originally recommended by fellow SSM! founder Wacky Rodent for THIS
particular scene:
Wherein Jon Lovitz unintentionally burnt his tongue and started to look and sound like Adolf Hitler.
Explaining his predicament while simultaneously flipping off a bunch of WWII veterans.
A very funny scene indeed.
Totally not like THIS scene:
involving Seth Green and his bumbling brother. Actually, almost ALL of the
Seth Green moments tend to drag on forever. The only one we sort of liked was their drive to Silver City scene wherein they met the two chicks.
Rowan Atkinson is also present in this movie.
He'll be playing your slightly talkative yet clueless Italian tourist, Enrico Pollini.
You can't help but root for him because you probably recognize him as Mr. Bean.
And that's fine too, I guess?
But this is probably the only other mainstream film other than Lion King and Johnny English to have given him THIS many lines of dialogue.
He does bring his A-game to the race solely depending on his surprisingly dumb luck and narcolepsy. He also shares a scene with Newman from Seinfeld.
This movie features branching but still believable scenarios and genuinely witty dialogues.
Heavily reminding us of this other film that we really really liked as well.
And also, asian Lucille Ball cosplayer as portrayed by Roxanne Wong.
They probably could've asked Nicole Sullivan of Mad TV
to be one of the additional Lucilles but that's just our wishful thinking, I guess?
This movie also one-ups one of our favoritest movie ever Mystery Men by not only featuring
Smash Mouth's All Star within their soundtrack.
But by ACTUALLY featuring Smash Mouth as themselves in the movie.
The entire cast had to sing the song and this truly was an ALL-STAR CAST!
Pun very much intended!
From the small uncredited cameos to the actual A-List actors/actresses (Whoopi Goldberg, Cuba Gooding Jr., Amy Smart) playing along as racers to what essentially was a millionaire's cruel game.
The entire movie was basically a reverse Willy Wonka. In which the Willy Wonka from this story got horribly punished and all of the kids(or racers rather) didn't exactly got what they wanted but did end up with a feeling of contentment and happiness. This movie was released in 2001. But could very well be viewed as a satire or commentary on all the reality TV game shows/craze that would somewhat plague the 2000s.
