The Jervs Store

One of the many great things about our current work is that we get to travel a lot.
Not out of luxury but more or less, out of necessity.
Kinda like how Kid Goku was doing back in the days.
And we all know that Kid Goku was the bestest kind of Goku there is.
So there, I'm terribly sorry about that, the OTHER Kid Goku from GT!
But it is what it is!
Given that we're not confined to a single office space. We were given the opportunity to explore our surroundings. Survey the area, finding new ways to make our commute a little less dreadful.
And with that said....
Most of our adventures were STILL within the metro but definitely not within our normal route since this is at the exact opposite as to where we reside.
Enter, Guadalupe Station.
The 9th station in our very problematic and accident and malfunctioning prone Metro Rail Transit System -3 or MRT-3. Naku, aberya na naman, late na ko!

Or as barkers within the said had affectionately named her as "GUADA" or "TULAY"(Bridge).
An area that houses a weird assortment of marketplace and jeepney stops.
Filled with bars, small restos and specialty kiosks.
(Kainan Na!)
This is where we buy our chicken skins. Not only were the portions a lot bigger and better tasting.
They were indeed using Magnolia chicken's, well.....SKIN.
In effect, making what they're selling a lot better than what you'd normally find elsewhere.
GRAVY siya! For the "Gravy" portion of this condiment box is always empty!
They currently don't have a store name upon the documentation of this blog entry. Hopefully that changes soon. Will edit this again in the near future.

Guadalupe is a portal if you will, if you wishes to visit places like BGC, Market Market!, McKinley (pronounced as MAH-keen-lee, hence don't be a dumb fuck. Pronounce it like a local!) and of course, AFP/Housing. O ayan, hindi niyo na kailangang mag-Taxi a!

Going to Market Market! should only cost you around P8.00 (Minimum Fare).
While somewhere as far as AFP/Housing would only cost you around P13.00.

But that's not why we're here!
We're here to discuss this hidden bookstore that the said place had to offer.
Which was Jervs/Mabel Pocketbooks Store.
Located within Basement, Guadalupe Commercial Complex (right beside McDonalds)
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jervs.pocketbooks/

The place offers a wide variety of both used pocketbooks and various other reading
materials such as back issues of Men's magazine, Academic books, books dealing with
Religion, DVDs and even a few comic books.
All of which were somewhat priced around P10-P20.
An absolute steal, mas mura pa kesa sa Booksale.
Hindi ka pa tinitignan ng masama nung saleslady.
And because there are no saleslady within the said store. The entire place was managed and maintained by "Kuya Ed". Which would strike charming and engaging small talks/conversations with you right before you leave. Ensuring that visitors to his amazing bookstore leaves happy and well-informed. An absolutely delightful place to score some really affordable pre-loved books.

And that's about it. Here was what I got from the store.
A more detailed summary of each of the books on a latter blog entry.
But for now, this would have to be our assessment/recommendation of the place.
It's definitely worth your time and visit so simply just give a go then.
You won't regret it!

Homegrown Mangroves

OH-NO MANGA COSPLAY CAMP 2 was for us... a lil' disappointing!
Oh-no reminded us of the very reason as to why we stopped going to anime
conventions some 2-3 years ago.
It's basically the same SM MEGAMALL crowd.
The same crowd that patronizes DOUJINSHI, GAY-ASS COMMISSIONS and various
shit we no longer know or care about.
It's the same "AY XEROX , LANG TO A! Ba't ang mahal?" people.
Makes us sick to talk about the selling part, so we'll just talk about
the LADY PARTS instead...
oh mah god, we didn't meant it like that!
Lady as in GIRL parts...urgh...
Girls in costume.
Yeah, COSPLAYERS!
There you go!
So here are a couple of them that we really liked!
And two dudes would eventually make it in to the list as well!
I sure do hope they've won something because they've definitely won all the
major prizes on our books.

And unlike most people, SSM! actually comes up with fresh and new ideas.
As opposed to just pelting the same shit over and over again.
This time around we've got ourselves a treat for all you PAPI fans.
Ah yes, it's a lil' something-something for us WRESTLING aficionados.
And to cement the legacy and their friendship in komiks form.
Together in life and together in death.
RABID WOLVERINE & LATINO HEAT FOREVER!

Sadly enough the only TWO people were able to appreciate the said stickers these were
our "ALIVE BESTFRIENDS"
HAPPY LOCKJAW
& KONG
Whom have requested for the said collection in the first place. So he gets the entire set
for free. The first batch was also given for free at the place where
the said stickers were printed,

All in all, it was not that great!
The post-event meal and chat was actually better.
We went home just wishing that BLTX or INDIEKET could come in a lil' sooner.
Because that's THE crowd that embraces the true essence KOMIKS collecting.
That is THE crowd that appreciates our work.
So screw this non-sense!
We're going home!
