Mr Ambush

Our sincerest condolences to the friends and family of Mr. Andrew Villar.

The sole person that we'd usually credit and thank for our inclusion in the 2012
and 2014
FCBD Sampler & Event.
We were just a bunch of nobodies (let's face it, we still probably are!) but our inclusion on those two instances

were a big deal to us and we will forever be thankful for that.

We weren't the closest of friends but having WAY too many mutual friends wouldn't warrant anything less.
Here was an on-the-spot Mona friendart (done circa 2014).
Hopefully, I'd be able to use it in the future.

He wasn't some distant corporate entity.
He started from the tiangges and would
continue to grow alongside his komiks brethren.

Sample Pages:
I could easily pull out these two issues for because they belong to our "CREAM OF THE CROP" collection. A series of indie komik books that were our absolute favorites and are more or less highly recommended by yours truly.

And here's why:
From Komikera 4.1.
From Boink! Comics.
Again, this was an excellent title. And a kid-friendly one (as if you can't tell by the cover).
Showcasing the very best of what the various Manila Bulletin artists had to offer.
And this next panel was my mom's favorite since she could immediately tell that the president character being portrayed here was a spoof of then president Noynoy Aquino.
We last saw each other during Komiket 2018.
Yep, that very brief return I did to hype then sell Phantasm.
My nephew was actually able to receive this event exclusive postcard for free.
Which incidentally was a MALATE postcard.
One of the last title he was working on before his untimely passing.

He would remain to be a familiar face during conventions and similar events
(I mean, just look at this! That probably took him forever to finish. And this was done back in 2013.)
and he will surely be missed.

The Bull Of The Wood

2018 was such a busy year.
How so?
Well, we were too darn busy to both promote/hype our one and only convention appearance this year.
But then again, there was this poster right here:
So there is that.
And yes it REALLY did happen within this lifetime! And now that the dust had settled, we could finally talk more about it in details.
For after all, I'm just a common man.
If you will, bay-bay!

October 13-14 would just happen to be October Komiket.
A 2 day Komiket event held at Elements at Centris.
This would mark as the 2nd year and 9th month break from our supposedly self-imposed indefinite hiatus.

Phantasm (which was still an unnamed project as of October 6)
was a discontinued group collaboration between komiks friends.
A project that was later revisited and finished by Ardie Aquino and yours truly.

Sharing a table with Chopsoy Comics. (Thanks Ardie & BK Pena!)
This was our first convention in years so you could bet your ass that we were going to snap away like there's no tomorrow.
Shots of our booth/table:
The event had been on our favor from the get-go and we were able to kick names and take ass.
Hence here were a few familiar faces / new friends courtesy of Komiket 2018.
Sticker buddies.
We were able to end the event on a high note.
Clearing out our stocks.
The same could be said about our sticker packs.
and receiving a friend art and mostly positive reviews from both Mike and EK, respectively.

Despite the limited engagement, this was indeed a very fun comeback for yours truly.
This is an industry built on passion, friendship and a whole lot of determination.
We are definitely looking forward to our next convention and hopefully it doesn't take us another 2 years to do so.
